Deze prachtige stad ligt aan het Great Barrier Reef, maar meteen heb je het gevoel alsof je in een tropisch regenwoud bent. Er is het hele jaar door een lagoon (gratis zwembad) beschikbaar, omdat je tijdens de zomermaanden niet zonder kwallenbeschermingspak kunt zwemmen in de oceaan. Je kunt hier echt alles doen wat je wilt, er zijn “maar” 3 regenwouden om uit te kiezen.

Deze stad ligt op ongeveer 1,5 uur rijden van Cairns en je komt er via een mooie schilderachtige weg. Zorg ervoor dat je niet vergeet om te stoppen in Palm Cove, het mooiste strand rond Cairns als je het mij vraagt. Ga alsjeblieft niet zwemmen in de oceaan, er zijn tal van krokodillen en ook kwallen van november tot mei. Veel stranden hebben beschermingsnetten tegen de kwallen, maar ik zou het risico niet nemen.
